  • Our cook “Janine” works hard to ensure the children are provided with a healthy two-course lunch, morning and afternoon snacks.  It is extremely important to us that the children in our care receive healthy, balanced and nutritious meals and that we encourage a healthy lifestyle. 

    Children gain an excellent understanding of healthy eating.  They are involved in food preparation such as collecting eggs from the nursery’s chickens, gathering herbs from our garden and growing our own vegetables.  We are part of the Nippers’ Nutrition programme to which we have gained the highest level. 

    If your child has any special dietary needs based on medical/allergy requirements, religious, or cultural requirements, just let us know and will be happy to discuss this with you.

  • The Nippers’

    Nutrition Programme

    The Nippers’ Nutrition Programme provides a framework for day nurseries, child-minders and pre-schools to deliver a balanced diet and nutritious food to under 5’s, so that they can give the children in their care the best start in life.

    Early year settings that are signed up to the Nippers’ Nutrition Programme are provided with guidance on food groups, menu planning tools, nutritious recipes, healthy snack ideas and guidance on portion sizes to assist them.  They also receive resources to share with parents about providing nutritious food at home.

    The settings are encouraged to work through the 5 levels of the Programme allowing for a gradual, stepped  improvement in food and drink provision at a pace which suits them, their parents/carers, staff and children’s preferences. Certificates are awarded when each level is achieved.

    • Morning Snack (served at 10.00am)
      Fruit Selection & Breadsticks Milk/water
      Banana Sandwiches on Wholemeal Bread & Apple & Pear slices
    • Lunch and Dessert (served at 12.00pm)
      Vegetable soup & Chicken dumplings. Warm Fruit Crumble With Crème Fraiche
      Chicken/Quorn & Vegetable Kebabs with Cous Cous
    • Afternoon Snack (served at 3.00pm)
      Humous with Carrot, Pepper & Breadsticks Water/milk
      Cheddar Cheese, Crackers & Cucumber
