3 - 5 Years Old
  • At 3 years old, it’s time to move into the Owls’ group.  With planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activity, this group will encourage your child to feel ready for ‘big school’.

With a large outdoor area accessible through free-flow, the children can decide whether to take their learning experiences inside or outside.  The room is divided into exciting areas such as role-play, creativity, mark marking and ICT.  There are many opportunities for the children to take the lead and really start to feel independent.

  • Owls Daily Routine

The Owls’ routine is aimed at helping to promote children’s confidence, self-esteem and independence. Aged from 3 years to when they leave for school, the Owls’ group helps the children to grow and develop at their own pace as individuals and helps the children to form new and strong relationships with their friends and the practitioners.  The Owls’ group is the final step at Tiggers, with carefully planned activities that encourage creativity, exploration and problem solving – learning through play has never been so much fun!  And all of this being merely a stepping stone to ‘real’ future learning and helping your child in readiness for ‘big school’.

  • Outdoor Learning

Once a week we hold our outdoor learning sessions, an exciting opportunity for the children to engage creatively with the wild, led once a fortnight by Nik Elvy.

These 2 hour sessions are held outside for the duration, all year round and in all weathers, every Monday morning.

The children enjoy learning about the environment around them and having a big space to run around and explore and so far they’ve been learning how to make sparks using flint, foraged for edible leaves as well as toasted crumpets over a campfire.

  • Bouncy Music

Once a week we hold our bouncy music sessions led by Joe from Little Wing music

Joe brings along his acoustic or electric guitar or even his tank drum as well as a selection of instruments for the children to experiment with and play along with him as he sings a mix of well known songs and rhymes. Each group has a 20 minute session held on Wednesday mornings.
